People went to an outdoor movie screening in a Downtown parking lot.
For 10 years, the Downtown St. John's Business Improvement Area Association has presented free outdoors movie screening on Monday during July.
The Reel Downtown Outdoor Movies Series called "Stars under the Stars" featured the 1989 Patrick Swayze film Road House.
"This year, we selected movies that were all 30-years-old because Downtown St. John's Business Improvement Area is celebrating 30 years this year," said Gaylynne Gulliver, Downtown St. John's Business Improvement Area's marking special events media relations manager.
"We picked movies that were born 30 years ago, just like us," Gulliver said.
During the screenings, the block was closed on Water Street and the D.J. managed the sound system.
The movie series opened on July 8 with the film "Weekend at Bernie's". The other movies on July 1 and July 15 were cancelled because of poor weather. Due to the cancellations, three movies had yet to be shown to the public. So, Downtown St. John's let the public vote on what the final movie in the series would be using a Facebook poll.
The movie that won the poll and will be shown on July 29 is Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
