Directions:

1. Pour a package of yeast into a cup of warm water and sugar, let it ferment.

2. Pour three cups of flour into a large bowl.

3. Sprinkle salt on top of the flour and make a well in the center of the flour.

4. Pour the yeast mixture into the center of the well.

5. Mix well to combine flour with yeast.

6. Break an egg into a cup and scramble.

7. Pour egg and oil on top of the egg and mix.

8. Add egg mixture to flour and mix together until it resembles dough.

9. Knead the dough, it should bounce back when pressure is added.

10. Coat the bowl and dough with oil.

11. Cover the bowl with a towel.

12. Place bowl in a warm place to proof for an hour.

13. Once the dough rises, put dough on a floured cutting board.

14. Stretch the dough into a rectangle, then use a bread knife to cut it into ten pieces.

15. Take each piece and roll it into a sphere. Feel free to combine the pieces if they are too small.

16. Use your fingers to create a hole in the center of the sphere so that it looks like a doughnut.

17. Put the bagels on a pan and let them proof a second time in a warm place for half an hour.

18. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

19. Get a saucepan and mix honey with water and bring to a boil.

20. Cut or grate the cheese into small strips.

21. Take proofed bagel dough, using a spatula and place them into the water.

22. Depending on the size of the pot, you might be able to boil three bagels at a time.

23. Leave the bagel alone for two minutes in boiling water, then turn the bagel dough over for a minute and a half.

24. Then removed from the water and place them on a towel to catch the water. After a minute, transfer to cooking pan.

25. Cover the warm bagel with the grated cheese and put in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. They should be browned and the cheese should have melted on top.

26. Lay them on a tray to cool.

Tip: Slice them in half, toast the bread, and spread butter or jam on the inside of your bagel.
