1 Chinese Cabbage
1 Medium Onion
1/4 lbs of pork (or minced pork)
Canola Oil
Store-bought Broth
Instant Noodles
Soy Sauce
Directions:
1. We will be using egg roll wrappers today (because we are a low-budget cooking channel and these wrappers were reduced)
2. Peel the leaves off your Chinese Cabbage
3. Dice your pork and onions
4. Wash and cut your Chinese Cabbage into slices. Separate the cabbage stem from the leaves.
5. Put the stovetop on medium. Fry your diced onion in canola oil with pepper.
6. Add the leafy part of the Chinese Cabbage to the fried onion. Add soy sauce and stir cabbage in the pan
7. Add 1/4 cup of water then put the lid on the pan for 10 minutes
8. Add the diced pork to the pan and mix it with the onions and cabbage
9. Put the lid on the pan for 3 minutes
10. Remove the pan from the hot element
11. Separate the wrappers on a plate for easy access. Have a small bowl of water on hand
12. Take the mixture out of the pan and put 1/2 in one bowl. Half is wanton stuffing and the other half is for the soup
13. Start making wontons:
a. Place a wrapper in the palm of your hand
b. Put a small spoonful of stuffing in the center
c. Add water to all 4 sides of the wrapper
d. Press the sides firmly with your fingers or a fork
14. Fill a pot with store-bought broth, add water to the container, and add to the pot
15. Put the soup pot on the stove
16. Add canola oil to the bottom of a pan. Fry the Chinese Cabbage-sliced stem part and mix them in a tablespoon of soy sauce. Fry at medium heat and put the lid on
17. Remove the lid and mix around after 5 minutes or until stems are soft
18. Pour the Chinese Cabbage stems into the pot of broth
19. Put a pot of cold water on a hot element, add instant noodles, and let the noodles boil until they are soft
20. Add the noodles to the broth which is on low heat, along with the second bowl of onions, cabbage leaves, and pork
21. Put the wanton into the boiling water, which was used to boil the noodles
22. Boil wantons for 2 minutes and remove them and place them in a heat-resistant bowl
23. Divide out the wantons into serving bowls
24. Scoop soup from the pot into serving bowls
25. Enjoy your wanton noodle soup!
Tips: The store-bought can be any flavor. You can use beef, vegetable, or pork broth.
