The Herriott brothers’ band got back together to pay tribute to their dad.

Joining the three Herriott brothers was the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (NSO). Their father, John Herriott, had done a lot for the NSO. Now that he had passed, both his family and the NSO wanted to have a performance in his memory.

Two tickets to the “John Herriott: A Tribute” show at the
St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre. The Newfoundland
Symphony Orchestra’s conductor for that show was Marc David.

Friday, November 15, 2019, at 8 p.m. the brothers’ mother, Josephine, came to see their show at the Arts and Culture Centre.

John's two sons, Chuck and Mike Herriott, had each invited a special guest up on stage with them.

For his comedy act, Chuck played the Newfoundland stick and metal tub with Jim Cowell on guitar. The two of them sang some fun tunes together for the audience and the orchestra.

Mike brought his wife, Ofra Harnoy, the international cello player, to the show. She performed a few songs with the brothers and the NSO for the audience.

John Herriott was a Newfoundland and Labrador musician, teacher and composer. He came from England and made a home on the island.

John's oldest son, Richard Herriott, joked during the show they did not play many of their father’s songs because he did not write many of them. Richard played The Newfie Bullet Concerto for Piano during his part of the performance.

All three brothers along with Ofra Harnoy and the NSO performed the final song, Cape St. Mary’s, as a tribute to John on stage together.
