Food Feature: How to fry an egg
My Online Journalism Blog

Ingredients:
1 Egg
2 tablespoons of
butter (or use oil)
Directions:
Heat your frying
pan on the stovetop at a high or medium heat and melt butter (or oil) on the
surface of the pan.
Crack the egg and
then drop it directly onto the pan. Once in the pan, you can add salt but it is
not mandatory.
Look closely, the egg yolk is not broken. The yolk is all inside this egg. My Online Journalism Blog/Melissa Wong |
Let the egg set
before you flip it. Once egg white becomes solid then use the spatula to lift
under the white part of the egg.
If the egg yolk
breaks do not give up on the egg. Let the egg set and then quickly move it to a
plate so the egg yolk will not cook through.
If the egg yolk is
not broken, let the bottom set and then quickly pick it up with the spatula
before the yolk cooks. Do not slide it from the pan to the plate or the egg
will be covered in butter/oil.
When the egg yolk
is cut, the yolk should still be liquid.
Tip: Recommended
to be eaten on toast to soak up the egg yolk.
